Are Junk Journals Still Popular?: 15 Reasons Why People Love Them
Are junk journals still popular
Since I discovered the world of junk journals a few years ago, I have made a huge variety of different themed ones and I love coming up with new ideas for them.
I have been asked if junk journals are still popular, they are still extremely popular, with more people discovering them daily and falling in love with not just how beautiful they are, but also the fact that they are an actual journal to write in and make wonderful unique gifts
Why Are Junk Journals So Popular?
As we all know, the majority of people lead busy lives with all the stress that comes with them, but being able to escape inside your craft room (and creative mindset) is a way to do just that.
Because there are no restrictions to follow, you can truly let your imagination go wild and design something lovely and eccentric, which is why junk journals are so well-liked. When you have time, you can work on the entire book or just a few pages here and there, like some tags, pockets, or belly bands.
Junk Journaling as a Form of “Rebellion”
Today’s trash journals originated as a “rebellion” against the notion that you needed to spend a lot of money on materials in order to write down your experiences or produce original artwork.
Where “free” items like cereal boxes, junk mail envelopes, packaging, fliers, brochures, paper bags, and anything else we discard or recycle every day could be transformed into something helpful, lovely, and deserving of being saved from the landfill.
No more pricey scrapbooking material. No one-time use stickers or stick-on letters are permitted. Heaps and lots of garbage.
But in the history of scrapbooking, I don’t think this was the first time we’ve seen junk journals.
Everyday Journal
Use a trash journal as a daily journal if you require a place to keep all the thoughts you have each day as well as a place to jot down inspiration and ideas. It has the capacity to save all the crucial ideas and tidbits you have throughout the course of the day.
The junk journal is a great way to keep track of your life and will provide you with something to look back on and enjoy once it is complete.
Since there are no rules, it can be compared to a daily scrapbook but is more relaxed.
Memory Book
Using junk journals as a memory book is a common application for them. This might be a special memory book for your wedding, a new baby, or a special occasion, or it could be a regular memory book where you record all meaningful occurrences.
It might be something straightforward, such as a receipt from a restaurant where you and your partner had dinner, or it might be a lock of your infant’s hair.
When you want to look back on some of your most significant memories, a memory junk journal gives you a secure location to keep them.
You could keep multiple junk journals to separate different aspects of your life and stories that you want to keep private, or you could keep one junk journal for all of your memories.
Themed Junk Journal
Your trash notebook could be a theme book on flowers if you have a particular interest in that theme, such as flowers. Include essays and song lyrics regarding flowers or other themes, as well as dried flowers, magazine cutouts, adorned paper, and writings.
You just need to be inventive because there are so many different mediums you can use in your junk journal to express your particular theme.
4. Personalized Gift Idea
Junk journals make for a very unique and personalized gift, especially for sentimental occasions like holidays, graduations, weddings, and anniversaries – but even simply for fun.
This obviously depends on the receiver comprehending and appreciating the journal, but it can be a really good idea.
For instance, I created a holiday junk journal a few Christmases ago for my mother-in-law, who is also an artist and a bit of a paper hoarder like me.
Every Christmas, seeing how much she has continued to add to it brings me such joy.
