Tips start junk journals for beginners?
Junk Journals one of those hobbies that seems simple on paper, but it takes some practice to really master. If you’re looking to take up the challenge, here are some tips to help you along the way.
Step 1 : Find a Place to Log All of Start Junk Journals for beginners
The easiest way to keep track of all of your inspiration is to simply create a folder on your web browser. For example, if you use Chrome, you could create a “Junk Journals” folder and put all of your inspiration into one place. Then, every time you see something inspiring, you can add it to your folder.
Step 2 : Get Some Basic Junk Journaling Supplies
If you’ve ever been inspired by someone else’s work, whether it’s a blog post, a video, a photo, etc., you know how hard it is to keep track of those inspirations down the road. When you see something beautiful, you might think “I wish I could do that!” But once you’re done, you realize you have no way to access that information again.
Take it with you or create a project when you return by turning your travel journal into a junk journal.
It’s all the more fun for me to combine tons of different paper scraps and ephemera with my favorite mixed media supplies like acrylic paints, gesso, watercolors and more.
Step 3 : Learn the Basics of Junk Journaling
Do you want to make a standard notebook, or maybe something different? Maybe you want to try out a sketchbook? Or maybe you want to just keep a record of your favorite quotes? Whatever your goal might be, here are the basics you’ll need to know to begin crafting your masterpiece.
Step 4 : Start a Collection of Materials for Future Junk Journals
The best place to start looking for inspiration is online. There are tons of blogs out there that offer free resources for creative people, including scrapbookers, artists, crafters and photographers. Here are some of our favorite sites:
• Scrapbooking Bloggers – This site features blog posts about scrapping, crafting and DIY projects.
• Crafty Chicks – A blog dedicated to craft tutorials and DIY projects.
Step 5 : Start Experimenting
I think one of the most important steps in learning anything is experimentation. When I learned about sewing, it wasn’t like I sat down and read a tutorial and then went home and sewed my first project. Instead, I spent hours looking up tutorials online, trying things out, and figuring out what worked best for me.
The same goes for scrapbooking. If you’re stuck, don’t worry – there’s no shame in asking questions. You might even find someone willing to help you out. And if you’re really struggling, there are tons of YouTube videos and blogs dedicated to helping people learn the craft.
Step 6 : Join a Junk Journal Community
Junk journals are fun and creative ways to keep track of memories and thoughts. They’re easy to make, inexpensive, and most importantly, they’re completely unique. But there’s no reason why you shouldn’t share your creations online. There are tons of communities out there where people share ideas, ask questions, and offer advice. Here are some of my favorites:
• Pinterest – This website allows users to save images from around the internet and organize them into boards. It’s perfect for junk journaling because you can pin photos directly onto your board and easily search through your collection later.
• Instagram – Another great social media platform for sharing your art with others. Like Pinterest, you can create boards and organize your images however you’d like.
• Facebook – The world’s largest social network has become an amazing resource for sharing all kinds of content. Whether you’re posting pictures of your latest creation, organizing events, or simply keeping friends updated on your life, this is the place to be!
